We don't keep a fixed case of stock. Every gemstone is sourced by hand, at origin, for the person who will wear it. Tell us what you're looking for and Serene goes hunting.

Natural coloured gemstones — sapphires, spinels, tourmalines, garnets and rarer finds — chosen for colour, character and integrity rather than whatever happens to be on a shelf.

Sourcing at origin

From the mine road to your hand

Serene sources at origin — travelling to the places these stones come out of the ground rather than buying through a chain of middlemen. It means fairer prices, a clear line of sight on where a stone came from, and access to material that never reaches a typical retail counter. Each hunt is different. Some stones are a phone call away; others take months of looking.

Tanzania

Sapphires, spinels and the vivid garnets East Africa is known for — sourced close to the mines of Umba and beyond.

Brazil

Tourmalines, aquamarine and Paraíba — Brazil's mines yield some of the most saturated colour on earth.

Colombia

Emeralds from the source — Muzo and Chivor country, where the green has no equal.

People come to coloured gemstones for different reasons. Here's an honest look at what draws them — and what to keep in mind.

Value retention

Fine natural gemstones have historically held value well over long periods, particularly rare colours and untreated material.

Portable wealth

A significant stone concentrates value into something small and private that you can carry, store or pass on discreetly.

Rarity

Unlike manufactured goods, fine gemstones are finite. Top colour in certain stones is genuinely scarce — and getting scarcer.

Heirloom

A stone outlives its setting. Bought well, it becomes something you hand down — re-set for the next generation.

Ethical origin

Sourcing at origin means we can speak to where a stone came from, rather than losing the story through a chain of dealers.

Diversification

For some collectors a gemstone is a tangible asset held alongside more conventional ones — outside the usual markets.

Gemstones are not a regulated financial product and are not a guaranteed investment or return. Prices depend on quality, market demand and resale conditions, and you may not recover what you paid. We source stones to be worn and treasured first. Nothing here is financial advice — if you are ordering primarily as an investment, seek independent professional guidance.

How ordering a gemstone with us works

Direct-at-origin pricing

Because Serene sources at origin, you're not paying for a retail chain's markup. You see the stone, the origin and a fair price for the quality in front of you.

Certification (GIA / GRS)

Significant stones can be accompanied by independent certification from respected labs such as GIA or GRS, confirming identity, origin and any treatment before you commit.

Loose, or set into a piece

Take the stone as it is where a standalone order is available to you, or have it set into a bespoke piece designed around it. Where each applies is set out just below.

Shipped worldwide, fully insured

Every stone and every finished piece is sent fully insured and tracked, wherever you are in the world.

Availability

Where loose stones can be ordered

A loose stone can be ordered on its own in some markets. Everywhere else, your stone becomes the heart of a commissioned piece — same stone, same hunt, just a different route to it.

If you're ordering as a private individual, a loose stone can be ordered on its own in:

Businesses — anywhere in the world

If you're ordering as a business, there's no territorial restriction — a loose stone can be ordered from anywhere. We'll need the company name and registration number for the invoice.

Everywhere else — as part of a commission

If you're a private customer outside those markets — in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland or elsewhere — your stone is chosen as part of a bespoke commission and set into a piece made to your specification. Serene hunts exactly the same stone for you; it simply arrives set rather than loose.

Standalone loose orders are available in selected markets and to business customers worldwide; everywhere else, your stone is sourced as part of a commission.

Gemstone sourcing FAQ

Can I order a loose gemstone online, and from where?+
Loose gemstones can be ordered standalone by private customers in the United States, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, and by business customers anywhere in the world. Private customers elsewhere — including the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — choose their gemstone as part of a bespoke commission, where the stone is set into a piece made to their specification.
I'm in the EU or UK — can I still choose my own stone?+
Yes. Your stone is sourced the same way, at origin, and set into a bespoke piece designed around it through the full commission process. What changes is the contract it is delivered under: a commission rather than a standalone gemstone sale.
Are loose gemstone sales refundable?+
No. All loose gemstone sales are final. Once payment is made the stone is secured against your order and payment is committed to the supplier, so there are no returns, refunds or exchanges. This covers change of mind and does not affect your statutory rights if a stone is not as described — if it does not match the certification, stated carat weight or identity represented at sale. Bespoke commissions have their own separate payment and cancellation terms.
Do you ship worldwide?+
Yes — we ship worldwide, fully insured and tracked, to your door wherever you are. Standalone loose gemstone orders are limited to selected markets and to business customers. Any local import duties or taxes are the customer's responsibility.
Are the gemstones certified?+
Significant stones can be supplied with independent certification from labs such as GIA or GRS, confirming the stone's identity, origin and any treatment. We'll advise when certification is worthwhile.
Do you hold stock?+
No. We don't keep a fixed inventory. Every stone is hunted to order at origin, which is why we ask what you're looking for rather than showing you a catalogue.
What does 'sourced at origin' mean?+
Serene travels to the regions these stones come from — Tanzania, Brazil, Colombia and others — and buys close to the source rather than through layers of dealers. That means fairer pricing and a clearer origin story.
Can you set a gemstone into a custom ring?+
Yes. Natural coloured gemstones can be set into a bespoke ring or any piece, designed around the stone. See the process for how a commission works.
How long does a gemstone hunt take?+
It depends on the stone. Readily sourced material can be quick; a rare colour or size can take weeks or months of looking. We'll give you a realistic timeline once we know what you're after.

Where It All Began

Sereeni started with gemstones. Serene went hunting for stones she loved — colour, vibrancy, character — across the world's mines and markets, and that search became the foundation of everything Sereeni creates.
